Funds from the partnership are being utilized to provide awards and prizes to students participating in the C-STEM Challenge Program. Teacher Quality Partner Grants

Educational agencies, partners, schools, and departments can apply for grants to improve student achievement; improve the preparation of prospective teachers and enhance professional development activities for new teachers; hold teacher preparation programs at institutions of higher education accountable for preparing teachers; and to recruit highly qualified individuals, including minorities and individuals from other occupations, into the teaching force.

Code@TACC Summer Camps

The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin recently received a $120,000 grant from the Harman-Mayes-Sooch Family Fund to support Code@TACC’s three summer camps — Code@TACC RoboticsCode@TACC Cybersecurity, and Code@TACC Connected for high school students. Students can attend these summer STEM camps for FREE.

Please Welcome Our New Intern

C-STEM is excited to welcome Jarid Williams to the team as the newest participant in our internship program. Jarid is a sophomore studying computer science at Houston Community College. Jarid will be tasked with updating/maintenance on the C-STEM Mobile App and the CSTEMbreak social platform, along with developing the 2023 C-STEM Challenge Coding Curriculum for Pre K – 12th grade students.

Houston Women’s Magazine Features Dr. Flowers

Congratulations to C-STEM Founder and CEO Dr. Flowers, who was selected as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2020-2021. She was featured in a full-page article in the Winter 2022 issue of the Houston Women’s Magazine. In addition to acknowledging Dr. Flowers’ hard work, this kind of recognition raises awareness and support for C-STEM’s much-needed impact in education.

Calling All Graduating Seniors

We’re excited to celebrate this year’s graduating high school seniors with special C-STEM cords for their graduation caps. Any former or current student who has participated in the C-STEM Challenge is eligible, and will also have the chance to receive a scholarship. All requests must be submitted by Monday, May 2. Request a cord here.

C-STEM Celebrates Opening with Trinity

C-STEM attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for Trinity Preparation Academy on March 15. Trinity United Methodist Church opened the academy to serve children 3 months old through Pre-K age. Congratulations on this new center!

 

Festival Showcases Student Talent, Skills

This month, C-STEM attended the Harmony Science Academy STEAM/International Festival and witnessed the students showcase their outstanding, creative science projects and STEM/Art related skills.
