2020 Will Permanently Change Education

With the COVID-19 pandemic followed immediately by the escalation of the Black Lives Matter movement, everything has changed this year. Classrooms are operating with remote learning, and in some cases, there are students attending classes and others attending school from home. We are now re-examining how to address injustice and inequality in many facets of life, including education. Most people never thought these events would still be affecting our lives, but five months later, the world is still trying to figure out how to move forward.  Read the Full Article…

This Month's Highlights

Our Mission Continues: Help Us Reach 30,000 Students

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’ve been able to raised nearly $15,000 to help provide 30,000 Anywhere C-STEM Toolkits to students in need. We still have a long way to go, but we are committed to helping bridge the digital divide and the additional barriers so many children are dealing with daily that impact their ability to learn. With the course of this school year still undetermined because of COVID-19, we need your help to make this big endeavor a reality. Please help us reach our goal.

Grant Helps C-STEM Evolve Curriculum for Teachers

Halliburton has named C-STEM the recipient of a $20,000 grant. These funds will enable the organization to create an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/Gamification experience through our Integrated C-STEM Training Institute (ICTI).

Cookie Cares Strikes Again

C-STEM is able to help students build bright futures with the backing of a strong support community. This also extends to our college students, and we need you! We are looking for volunteers from various career fields to help lead our internship program. You will have the chance to further build your leadership skills, and prepare our interns to apply their skills to their careers after college. Apply to volunteer with us here.

Volunteers Needed: Share Your Expertise

C-STEM wants to extend a huge thank you to young Houston elementary student LeReine better known as “Cookie”. For her 7th birthday, this charitable young lady held a book drive-by, during which she collected approximately 500 books for the C-STEM Community Library in lieu of gifts. Thank You Cookie!  #cookiecares

IBM Offers New AI Resources

IBM has launched new learning resources to help both students and teachers. The company has launched several resources centered on artificial intelligence, and how teachers can integrate these concepts into their lessons. Learn more here.

Partnering Up Virtually

C-STEM believes after-school enrichment and summer camps are a critical components to filling learning gaps. Many camps were canceled and others moved to an online format this year.  Community organizations have had to be innovative, color outside the lines and reinvent themselves daily.  One thing is for sure: we are partnering up to share resources, leverage what we all bring to the table and support virtual learning environments as best as we can.  You can find Dr. Flowers participating on panels, speaking to students about career opportunities in STEM and the benefits of participating in STEM programs, and celebrating students’ resilience with online learning.  #BSNM #SheldonSTEM
